Oregon Family Portraits - The Smith Family Moves to Oregon!

I have photographed this little family since the birth of their twin boys three years ago, and they have always been great subjects! I was sad to see that they were moving from Colorado to Oregon, but when I scheduled a PureBaby Newborn Workshop in Salem, Oregon, I was just down the street from their new home! One friend said, "I didn't know that Beaton Photography did house calls!" Maybe that will be our new tagline! And their backyard was perfect for these photos!

and one of my favorite photos of all time... when the twins were one and Lily was three - the twins weren't having anything to do with this photographer! Although I know the photo makes it look like Lily is the culprit - she was honestly just trying to be sweet and comfort them!

and another fun story from Salem - my first few hours in town I stopped at the grocery store and I got a hundred dollar bill from the good samaritan Benny! I immediately payed it forward, but feel fortunate to have felt and shared some Benny love! More info about Benny can be found on this Oprah website link: Be Like Benny!

Boulder Baby Photographer - Meet Newborn Baby Mabel!

I had the pleasure of photographing newborn Baby Mabel a few weeks ago - just as I photographed her Big Sister Alice as a newborn! Both are absolutely adorable - and they look so different as newborns! I love this family! Isn't Mabel's hair just precious?

Summit Senior Portraits - Genna Class of 2015

I've known Genna since she was a baby - I can remember being at her first birthday party and have taken many photos of her over the years. So blessed to be able to take her senior portraits also - she is a beautiful young woman inside and out! Best of luck with everything Genna!

Lake Dillon Morning Fog

I'm in Summit County photographing high school senior portraits for a few days, and ventured out at sunrise this morning to the Frisco Marina. And I was not disappointed! The fog, the sailboats, and folks skulling, the geese, everything seemed to be at peace and amazingly beautiful!

Would love some feedback on the first 3 photos - which do you like best and why? I was walking out the docks with my long 70-200mm lens, and the scene changed a little with the arrangement of boats and backdrops and I can't figure out which I like best! Need some critiques! Just leave a comment below...

The deadline for senior portraits to be turned in at Summit High School is October 8th this year, but school starts on Monday and most of my weekend appointments are booked between now and October 8th! Some seniors can take a weekday afternoon for portraits, but hurry if you're interested in senior portraits!

Boulder Baby Photographer - Baby Mackenzie 11 days old!

Baby Mackenzie was just 11 days old when I had the privilege of photographing her. And her sisters and some extended family... it is always such an amazing miracle to be in the presence of a newborn. That's why I love this job! Blessings Mackenzie and family! It may seem crazy right now with lots of diapers and very little sleep, but before you know it she'll be going to prom! Thanks for letting me document this little miracle!

Breckenridge Family Reunion

The Strand family came to Breckenridge this summer with 57 family members for a family reunion. I was a little worried about how we would get the large family portrait, as I do a class photo every year with 200 middle school students, but it's on bleachers and the principal has a bullhorn and helps me create order out of chaos! But I was up for the challenge and the Strand family was amazingly well organized and well behaved and I think it worked out as good as one could expect for a photo shoot with 57 family members! And sometimes I like the outtakes from these gatherings as much as the good photos! I did have to pull out all the tricks, and might have lost my voice for an hour or two afterwards, but I love the joy that comes with "most" of the photos!

And these last 3 are the outtakes trying to get some of the youngest grandkids. I kept hearing "this has got to be fast" so I started clicking early and got a lot of additional photos as I didn't know if we would really get any, but we did! They might not be enlarged and hanging in the living room - but we did get all the grandkids in one photo!

and I love how this little girl in front sees an opportunity and runs for it.... "get me outta this place!"
