Summit Middle School 8th grade class photos

Congratulations Summit Middle School 8th graders for making it through middle school and on to high school next year! I'm honored to be able to photograph the class for the 3rd year in a row! This year's photo was much easier due to lots of parent volunteer help! THANK YOU!

Happy Mother's Day 2012!

I've been thinking a lot about new mothers lately, doing a lot of newborn photos, and enjoying (vicariously) some of those beautiful moments of being a mother for the first time. It really is something that no one can describe to you or you can experience before the moment it happens to you. It's a miracle - an absolute miracle! And it has some challenges... at infant stage and teenage stage... and I'm sure as my kids move into adults it will have all new challenges I have never even considered. That's why we all need to just savor these "Mommy moments!" and a favorite quote...

"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new." -Rajneesh

Digging through some images this week - these few iamges really represent the word "Mother" to me & those first moments with newborns. Thanks to all my clients for letting me document some of these precious moments.

It's official - Beaton Photography will be moving to Boulder County!

It's a slow transition, and we'll keep an office up here in Summit for much of the rest of the year, but Beaton Photography is MOVING!  We have weddings, baby portraits, and senior portraits scheduled through the fall, but wanted to make sure we made an official announcement! I'm hoping to become Boulder County's newest baby photographer, and focus mainly on babies!

The website will stay the same, email and phone numbers the same - but we'll be making this slow transition towards Boulder County Baby & Children's photographer!

One plus (besides hubby's new job there) and the warmer weather is that newborns don't usually need oxygen down there & I can do newborn photos without juggling the oxygen!   Some favorite baby and children's portraits:

It's funny... since the business is staying here in Summit County through the rest of the year, I was hesitant to make an official announcement that the family was moving! But since we have so many friends that are clients, I've been losing work because folks will learn "they are moving" through the social networks.
Well, yes we're moving... but I think we'll be in both places for another year. The "Boulder County Baby Photographer" and the "Breckenridge and Keystone Wedding and Baby Photographer." And we'll be enjoying the time in between!

Spring Break in Moab and Arches National Park

We were able to sneak away for a few days to Moab over spring break and thoroughly enjoyed the 85 degree weather! As usual we ran into many other Summit County folks seeking warmth and biking this spring! I want to go back! Stayed at our favorite hotel The Gonzo Inn and beautiful sunrise hike into Delicate Arch!

I'm also trying out my "photoshop stitching" skills and created this panoramo - it needs a little work as I can clearly see the stich line on the left. But no tripod and I was on vacation! But I'll keep working on it!

These last two photos make me smile - our first stop was at the lookout where you can only see Delicate Arch in the very background with Heather in the foreground. The photo before this has Heather standing by the Arch on the left just a little tiny spot on the photo. It's all in the perspective!

Keystone Luxury Home for Sale on the River Course

I had the pleasure of photographing this amazing home yesterday for local realtor, Catherine Kirkwood Smith, of Mountain Homes and Real Estate in Dillon. The home sits right on The River Course - a Keystone Resort Golf Course and is a luxurious mountain retreat!

Sometimes being a real estate photographers you can just "pretend" you live in some of these luxury homes... if only for a few minutes!

Boulder Baby Photographer - Gracie is 3 months old and HAPPY!

Gracie came to our studio to get her 3 month portraits taken - what a pleasure! It was really easy to get smiles out of her - and I think there was only one little whimper when she was hungry! I could do baby portraits all day! Big sister Adalynn was at daycare so Gracie was the star of the show - sometimes that helps to keep the focus on the newborn! Adorable!

The 10th annual Tubbs Romp to Stomp out Breast Cancer

Saturday I photographed the Tubbs Romp to Stomp in Frisco. It was a huge success with a total of 2,400 rompers and approximately $90,000 was raised for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. There was a Snowshoe Race, a kids Lil' Rompers Snowshoe Race, and a 3K and 5K snowshoe romp. Thanks to the amazing Denver photographer Keri Doolittle for shooting with me!

The weather was NOT in our favor, as it was in the single digits and windy much of the morning. Some of the photos were painful because people's faces were either covered or battling the cold... but luckily the clouds parted and we had some sun by the final awards ceremony. And most folks kept warm by romping or dancing!

Slideshow online here... and a few of my favorite photos below.

I really enjoyed photographing the Jacobs family for the second year in a row. They are all part of Linda's Team, in memory of Linda Jacobs. It's not too late to donate to Linda's Team or any of the other teams on the Tubbs Romp to Stomp Website! This little guy, Linda's grandson was from last year... and the rest of the family photos are from this year! What team spirit!

And the amazing Liz Overdorf, raised over $6,000 and won first prize for donations!

And B. Casapulla from Frisco who was in third place for most donations!

Donations can be made online to any of these teams and if you donate through March 30th will still count towards this year's ROMP TO STOMP!
