8 month old portraits - meet Ryder!

Ryder was going to come to the studio for portraits last week, and mom Jen had to call & postpone because he had a little accident, emergency room trip, concussion, bruises and fat lip! But didn't he recover really well! I think he's ADORABLE!

Katie's 3 year old portraits - playing Dress Up!

Luckily Katie always puts on a show when we do her portraits - this time she wanted to do DRESS UP portraits! Which she did beautifully! Katie needs to be the boss of her photos (as do all healthy 2 and 3 year olds) but this one took some extra coercing... once she started bouncing on the exercise ball, and she had such big smiles.... these are some of my favorites of the shoot!

And she has the BEST hair! and with many of her other shoots over the last 3 years... there are so many different expressions from this one little girl....

I just learned about this project yesterday and signed up to help with Hugs from Henry. Photographer Faith Raider in Georgia is starting it as a fundraiser to help with medical costs for a Colorado family.

Lucas is a toddler who has Down's Syndrome and seems to be surrounded by photographers (maybe that's because he's so darn cute??). While on vacation recently he had to be hospitalized with croup and pneumonia - his mom Erin's whole story is on her blog.

Anyway... Faith is rallying a group of photographers in the US and around the world to create a photobook called Hugs from Henry! Henry is Lucas's adorable sock doll from Etsy - a one of a kind doll.

Avalanche Ranch - Redstone Colorado - a beautiful getaway!

Avalanche Ranch is not for those wanting big nightlife, high speed internet, and the rush of crowds elbow to elbow with them.

I first learned of Avalanche Ranch on a hut trip at the Shrine Mountain Inn on top of Vail Pass. Even more secluded than Avalanche Ranch - no cars, just skiis!

But since I picked up the Avalanche Ranch brochure at Shrine Mountain Inn several years ago, I have really wanted to go there. Finally made this happen in September with several photographer friends. It is nestled in the side of the mountain outside Redstone, just 30 miles from Marble and Crystal and the Crystal Mill - the most photographed place in Colorado. And PERFECT for fall colors... and late September is the perfect time!

But I do recommend a jeep ride.... it's six miles from Marble to the Crystal Mill and SO GLAD I did not attempt it in my own SUV! Smitty at Crystal River Jeep Tours is the way to go.....

Aspen Marble Crystal Colorado Fall Photos..... AMAZING!

I love editing beautiful sunny day photos when it's blizzarding out.... the scene outside my window is white/grey/freezing yucky... but it SO helps to edit photographs from sunny warm days with beautiful aspen trees in beautiful locations like Aspen!

And it has taken me a LONG time to edit these personal photos from a great week in Aspen in September! My photographer buddies Barb & Heidi from Illinois joined me for the mayhem... a day on the Roaring Fork River for the 8th Annual Rocky Mountain Flyfishing Classic - a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. And then several days in Redstone, Marble, Crystal, and the ghost town of Ashcroft (people say if things had worked differently in the 1800s... Aspen would actually be Ashcroft... 14 miles south of Aspen!)

And no matter what... this is BEAUTIFUL territory, especially in the fall months, and we picked the perfect week, September 23-28... according to the website Colorado.org. Oh yes, the Flyfishing Tournament also knows how to schedule this fall event!

We ventured to numerous locations in and around Aspen... my favorites are:

More Aspen Flyfishing Photos - from the Rocky Mountain Flyfishing Classic 2010

This year I had two friends and fellow photographers join me to photograph the 8th Annual Flyfishing Classic in Aspen in September. Heidi Haas Willians and Barb Edeblute both from Illinois. We volunteered to photograph the flyfishing tournament for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, then we spent a few days photographing the amazing fall colors of Colorado!

Fall Family Portraits - meet the Smith Family!

We took these family portraits in Silverthorne and could not have asked for a more beautiful day. I love when we get a combination of posed photos and candid photos.... and the swings and slides always bring out the most natural smiles!
